English Baccalaureate

Although the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) is not a qualification in itself, it supports the study of a range of traditional academic subjects.  To achieve the EBacc, students need to gain full GCSEs at grades 9-5 (strong pass) or 4 (standard pass) in English Language, Mathematics, Science, Geography or History, and a Modern Foreign Language.

We see the EBacc as an important factor in ensuring our students are well placed to beat the competition for places at further education colleges and universities, and encourage parents and carers of students approaching their Option Choices to consider the importance of this.

However, we also understand that the English Baccalaureate pathway may not be suitable for all students and the aim of our curriculum is to combine breadth of study, with more flexibility, enabling students to tailor their academic study to their educational needs and aptitudes.

If you would like further information about the curriculum the school is following then please contact Amanda Holt via the school.
