Level 1/ Level 2 Vocational Award (Technical Award)

This qualification is worth one GCSE and comprises of three units, with two being an internal assignment, and one being an external exam.  Unit 3 (40%) (Exam) is taught in Year 10 of the course, alongside introducing students to the practical elements to the course.
 
Units 1 (40%) and 2 (20%) (Controlled assessments) are undertaken in term 1 and 2 of Y11. Students are given an authorised assignment brief as set out by the exam board, whereby they are tasked to extend their prior learning by way of demonstrating their understanding of how to manufacture an engineered product, but also by also demonstrating their understanding of how to design and develop an existing product, via the use sophisticated CADCAM (Computer Aided Design) software.
