North Huddersfield Trust School (NHTS) is proud to announce the official opening of its brand-new, purpose-built five-classroom teaching block — representing an investment of around £3 million in the school’s facilities and future.
The new building, which welcomed students at the start of the September 2025 term, is now home to the NHTS Humanities department, including History and Geography.
The classrooms are very spacious and provide students with a learning space that truly supports modern education. They feature the latest state-of-the-art Promethean boards and benefit from plenty of natural lighting to support well-being and health.
They have also been sustainably designed to reduce environmental impact, with features including rooftop solar panels and an advanced air circulation system to help keep classrooms cooler during the summer months.

This development increases the school’s capacity from 900 to 1020 student places, reflecting growing demand for places at NHTS and a continued commitment to providing high-quality education for the local community.

Designed with teaching and learning at its heart, the new block offers modern, flexible classrooms, improved accessibility, and energy-efficient design features. It also paves the way for further improvements across the site, including a new IT suite and the modernisation of existing classrooms and corridors.
I would like to thank Kirklees Council in supporting the delivery of this project which represents a major milestone in our ongoing journey of improvement. The new teaching block, boasting the very best facilities, is a fabulous development to our learning environment and a reflection of the ambition we hold to provide the highest quality education and best experience of high school for all our students.
