Aims & Vision
- Our vision is to inspire all students in Year 8 to move towards a state of self-actualisation
- Through a programme of high-quality assemblies, tutor mentoring and guided reflection time we give all students opportunities to build self esteem and pride in what they do
- We use the five steps to wellbeing – connect, stay active, learn, give and enjoy the moment (mindfulness)
Form Time Programme
Monday
Standards and Achievement focus time. This includes a review of ClassCharts data, our Study Skills sessions, and an opportunity for Form Tutors to mentor students where support is needed.
Tuesday
Year 8 assembly, during which students are given an interactive presentation by the Year 8 Standards and Achievement Leader, a member of the Senior Leadership Team, or a guest speaker such as one of our Trust partners.
Wednesday
Literacy Focus. This may include learning new words, spellings including prefixes and suffixes, or reading and creating our own texts.
Thursday
Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Education or Careers Education. These alternate between Week 1 and Week 2 of the timetable.
Friday
Reflection Circle, during which form tutors lead a discussion in which all students participate. This may be reactive to events within and outside our school community or may involve long term projects such as the Kindness Project.

Kindness Project
In Year 8, all students will take part in a student-led Kindness Project with their Form Group. This will focus on ways to spread kindness within the community, both inside and outside school. This may involve fundraising for a local charity, showing kindness to an identified local group, finding ways to spread happiness in the local area and much more. This project develops qualities of teamwork, empathy and planning skills.
