Welcome to our school!  Our ethos is simple; for both staff and students, we strive to ensure that everyone respects themselves and others and we all work under the PRIDE agenda:

Professionalism – we do the best for ourselves and for others

Respect – We are a school where respect is assumed, is required and is encouraged, for everybody and everything, regardless of background

Innovation – new ideas and approaches are encouraged to thrive

Determination – we sometimes learn by making mistakes but we do not give up

Enrichment – we provide an environment where every student is given opportunities over and above the norm.  This includes theatre trips, residential trips, music concerts, sporting events and many more.

Since we first opened our doors in September 2011 such a lot has been achieved.  Examination results are up, student numbers have almost doubled and in Ofsted terms, we have already achieved gradings of ‘Good’ in both Behaviour & Safety of Pupils and Leadership & Management, with Ofsted reporting positive comments in all four of its categories and describing us as a ‘rapidly improving school’.

As a Trust school, we run much like any other school except that we have the added advantage of Trust partners, who bring many additional opportunities.  This is through a variety of means; helping to prepare students for future employment, apprenticeships, mentoring, advice and support, trips to see life beyond the classroom; the Trust is an extremely important part of the development of our young people.

Our student leadership opportunities are second to none.  We believe that every student should have the chance to develop themselves to be excellent leaders.  Of course, this does not necessarily mean becoming Prime Minister! Good team and leadership skills are a vital part of becoming an adult and through our Student Council, Sports Leaders and National Centre for Youth Leadership programme, to name but a few, we can help to foster skills for life.

We have a school which parents, carers, students and staff can feel proud of.  Our students have access to a wide range of opportunities and facilities which allow each individual to explore and fulfil their potential.

If you have never visited our school then we would encourage you to come and take a look for yourself.  We regularly receive unprompted positive praise from visitors that the school is ‘not what I expected’.  We are only in our infancy compared to other schools across Kirklees but we are immensely proud of what we can offer local young people; a safe and happy place to learn.

If you would like to learn more about the school or would like to come and have a look round please contact our main office and we look forward to welcoming you to North Huddersfield Trust School.
